Wolverhampton Wanderers FC pay tribute to Carl Hoddle

Glenn Hoddle, left, and brother Carl.

WOLVES chief executive Jez Moxey has paid tribute to Carl Hoddle, the younger brother of Glenn, who has died from a suspected heart attack.

Carl worked at the Molineux as a scout and coach in 2004 after being hired by his brother's team at the time.

Carl, aged 40, collapsed at his home in Hertfordshire.

Former Spurs and Chelsea star Glenn, aged 50, was said to have been left "reeling" by the tragic news. His death comes a year after their father Derek passed away.

Carl, who lived with his second wife Dawn and step-daughter Robyn, played professionally for Barnet and Leyton Orient after being rejected by Tottenham at the age of 18.

He worked as a pub landlord and a car salesman after quitting football in 1998 prior to his brief time helping out at Wolves.

Mr Moxey said: "Everyone at the club has been shocked by the news of Carl's death.

"Carl was really popular at the Compton training ground.

"All the staff at Wolves send their deepest condolences to Carl's family."

Glenn Hoddle resigned as manager of Wolves in 2006 and is now attempting to form a football academy.
