Man broke into car to steal part

A MAN who tried to steal a part from a car to repair a friend's vehicle has been jailed for nine months.

Ian Slater was caught on CCTV smashing his way into the vehicle in Wednesbury, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

At the time, he was subject to a nine-month prison sentence that had been suspended for two years, said Rhiannon Jones, prosecuting.

Slater, 31, of Brackenfield Road, Great Barr, admitted breaching the order and interfering with the vehicle.

Ekwall Tiwana, defending, said Slater had been unable to buy the part he needed so decided to break into the car.
