Body is found after Wolverhampton house fire

A WOMAN was found dead after a fire at her home in the Midlands.

The victim, said to be in her 60s, was discovered after calls were received to a house in Whitmore Reans, Wolverhampton.

Her body was found inside a smoke-filled bedroom of the semi-detached property in Farndale Avenue, where there had been a small fire.

The grim find was made by firefighters and police just after 7pm yesterday.

Investigations were launched but West Midlands Police said officers were not treating the death as suspicious.

"We were called to the address in Farndale Avenue at about 7.05pm yesterday following reports there had been a fire," a spokeswoman said.

"Entry was forced to the property and the body of a woman in her 60s was found inside the property. The death is not being treated as suspicious and the matter has been referred to the coroner."

An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and an incident support officer were sent to the scene.
