Man charged with Leanne Moore hit and run

Leanne Moore

A MAN was due to appear in court today charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal accident involving a young mum.

Leanne Moore, aged 25, died in Russells Hall Hospital after being struck by a car in Barrack Lane, Colley Gate, Cradley, at about 12.20am on Mothering Sunday.

The vehicle involved hit a fence, a wall and another car before finally coming to rest.

Leanne was the mother of a nine-month-old baby.

A 22-year-old man was yesterday afternoon charged with causing death by dangerous driving and other related offences in connection with the collision.

He was set to appear before Halesowen Magistrates' Court this morning.

Pedestrian Leanne was fatally injured just after coming out of The Widders pub.

Debbie French, licensee at The Widders, said Leanne and her boyfriend were regulars at the pub on Friday and Saturday evenings.

She said they would often come and play darts in the back room.

Leanne had ordered a Chinese meal which had been delivered to the pub and was on her way to her boyfriend's.

Debbie added Leanne had just said goodnight to two female friends in a taxi when the tragedy happened.

Three men, aged 26, 21 and 20 and two women, aged 18 and 17, were arrested on Monday in connection with the incident.

They have since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

The IPCC is currently conducting an independent investigation into the circumstances of police involvement with the car involved in the incident, prior to the collision.
