Fly-tip pest to pay £690

A MAN linked to the suspected dumping of garden waste has been left with a court bill of almost £700.

Michael William Young, of Marley Road, Kingswinford, admitted two offences relating to noncompliance with legal notices served on him by Dudley Council.

Young, whose work involves removing garden waste, appeared before Dudley Magistrates on Thursday.

The court heard the council had received a number of complaints relating to a vehicle owned by Young, which had been seen and was suspected of being involved in fly-tipping.

Because Young failed to co-operate with the council he was served with legal notices, which requested him to provide information relating to the use of his vehicle and asking him to produce waste transfer notes for the movement of controlled waste.

Young was fined £220 for each offence and ordered to pay £250 in costs.

Coun Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for the environment, said: "We will not hesitate to prosecute."
