Woman denies throwing apple core

A WOMAN denied tossing an apple core from her car onto the pavement when she appeared before a judge.

Kate Badger, a 26-year-old mother of three, was remanded on bail for trial after Wolverhampton Crown Court.

The promotions worker denied throwing controlled waste from her VW Golf while parked in Bilston Street, Wolverhampton, in March last year.

Badger, of Cornwall Road, Tettenhall, Wolverhampton, further denied failing to supply information required by the waste regulation authority.

Mr Tony Watkin, prosecuting for Wolverhampton City Council, told Judge John Warner the trial was expected to last for a day.

The council wanted to fine Badger £60 for the offence, but she now faces an unlimited fine or a six-month custodial sentence if she is convicted.

The judge remanded Badger until the week beginning April 21, when her trial is set to begin.
