Walsall shopkeeper defies gang

A NEWSAGENT was threatened with a crowbar by a gang who ambushed him as he opened his shop near Walsall.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the attempted armed robbery at King Street News, Darlaston, just after 6:30am yesterday.

Three men in a car pulled up outside the shop, and one approached the owner as he arrived, ordered him to open up the shop and threatened him with a crowbar.

The newsagent refused and the two white men and a black man made off empty-handed in a dark estate car.
