Lorry loader injured by runaway vehicle in Oldbury

A MAN was airlifted to hospital with serious leg injuries after becoming trapped between a car and a lorry.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the Brandhall Labour Club, Brandhall, Oldbury, shortly after 9.10am yesterday.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "On arrival, crews were told the man, who is believed to be in his 50s, was loading a lorry in a car park when a car without a driver rolled down. The man tried to get out of the way, but ended up being pinned between the two vehicles.

"He had suffered serious leg injuries, so the County Air Ambulance from Cosford was called. The helicopter arrived with a doctor on board who gave the man pain relief while his leg was splintered.

"The man was immobilised using a spinal board before being flown to Selly Oak Hospital."
