15 charged over match trouble

FIFTEEN men were appearing in court at Walsall today charged with public order offences near a Midland rail station.

Trouble flared on November 10 last year before a match between Walsall and Shrewsbury.

A British Transport Police spokesman said that "serious disorder" broke out outside Tame Bridge Parkway railway station at Wednesbury involving rival fans.

Eleven Shrewsbury Town FC supporters were arrested in early morning raids by British Transport Police officers at addresses in Shrewsbury on January 8.

Two other Shrewsbury men were arrested later, along with two men from Wednesbury.

All the men were charged with offences under the Public Order Act in April.
