Police search for boy spotted walking Walsall streets on CCTV
Missing child cctv
An "intensive" police search is underway after a young boy was spotted wandering around a town alone.
Officers in Darlaston, Walsall, said they were becoming increasingly concerned for the child's welfare after a lengthy search of the Black Country district proved fruitless.
A West Midlands Police spokeswoman described the circumstances as "a mystery", since the boy has been captured by CCTV a number of times but has not been reported missing.
A team of more than 20 officers were involved in the hunt for the boy - thought to be five or six years old.
Earlier today police dogs and a helicopter also joined in the search.
The child was first seen at 5am this morning by staff at a squash club in the town. He fled when approached by staff, telling them he didn't know where his mother was.
Later he was seen near an ASDA supermarket and at a bank in the town centre.
