Police search for boy spotted walking Walsall streets on CCTV
Missing child cctv
He is described as white, aged about five or six, with short dark, spiky hair. He is wearing a navy tracksuit and grey hooded top.
Inspector Lisa Robson, leading the search, said: "Clearly we are concerned for this boy's safety and welfare and need to trace him as quickly as possible to check his well-being and reunite him with his guardian.
"It is something of a mystery why he has been wandering around Darlaston and keeps eluding our attempts to catch up with him.
"It is also of concern that no one has reported the lad to be missing.
"We are liaising with other agencies to try and identify him and find out where he comes from."
Officers have consulted local schools and have knocked "a large number" of doors in a bid to trace the identity of the child.
Insp Robson added: "It may simply be a case that the lad has wandered off from home for a while and may now have returned, but clearly we want to establish that he is safe and well.
"We would ask all parents locally to check on their children and advise us at once if any of them are missing.
"In the meantime, anyone who spots a lad answering this description wandering around the Darlaston area is asked to call police at Bloxwich immediately."
Anyone with information is urged to contact Bloxwich police station on 0845 113 5000.
