West Bromwich Albion star Joe Mattock on assault charge

NEW West Bromwich Albion star Joe Mattock has been charged with assaulting two men and two women during a night out, it was revealed today.

The 19-year-old, who moved from Championship rivals Leicester City last month for £1 million, is alleged to have been involved in a disturbance in Leicester in the early hours on Sunday morning.

The player, who has won five England Under-21 caps, played in Albion’s 2-2 draw at Sheffield United on Saturday.

He was not arrested at the scene of the alleged incident, which is thought to have happened at around 1.45am.

Mattock, who plays in defence at left back is said to have walked into a police station on Tuesday.

He was held overnight and charged yesterday morning with three counts of causing actual bodily harm and one offence of common assault.

A police spokesman said: “We have charged a 19-year-old man in connection with four assaults.
