The following table lists every school in Birmingham along with the following details:

* The number of places available to Year 7 students each year

* The number of first choice applications to each school this year

* The ratio of first choice application to school places

* The number of total applications to each school this year

* The ratio of total application to each school this year

PARENTS looking to send their child to a Birmingham school need to complete an application form listing up to six schools in order of preference.

Offers are made based on:

* Children with a statement of special educational need
* Children in care
* Children who have a sibling at the school
* Geographical proximity to the school

If a child meets the criteria for all schools listed as a preference, then they are offered their first choice.

If a child meets the criteria for less than their preferred schools, they are offered the school ranked highest on their preference form and where they meet the admission criteria.

If a pupil only meets the criteria for their lowest ranked preference, they are offered that school, above other applicants whose children don’t meet the criteria but who have ranked the school higher than them. If a child does not meet the criteria for any preferred schools then Birmingham Education Authority say it is “impossible” to offer any of the listed preferences.

If the authority is unable to offer a child a place at any of their chosen schools, then they are offered a place at the nearest school with available places.
