Soldier killed in Afghanistan blast
A soldier has been killed in an explosion in southern Afghanistan, the International Security Assistance Force said.
The soldier, whose next of kin has been informed, died when a patrol struck an improvised explosive device on Saturday. It is not yet known if he or she is British.
ISAF spokesman Brigadier General Richard Blanchette said: "Our deep sympathies go out to the family and friends of this soldier.
"We have lost a valuable member of our team and this loss will be felt across ISAF."
