Third post-mortem on G20 man's body
A third post-mortem examination will be carried out on the body of a man who died during the G20 protests, the City of London coroner has said.
The request was made by lawyers for the police officer questioned over the death of newspaper vendor Ian Tomlinson, 47, after conflicting results emerged from the first two examinations.
The post-mortem examination will be conducted on Wednesday, said a spokesman for the coroner's office.
A Metropolitan Police pathologist will observe the examination, after a request from Scotland Yard, he added.
The body will be returned to Mr Tomlinson's family when the post-mortem has been completed.
The spokesman said: "HM deputy coroner for the City of London has agreed to a request from the legal advisers to a police officer for a further post-mortem examination to be conducted on the body of Mr Ian Tomlinson.
"There has also been a request from the Metropolitan Police to have a pathologist present to observe only.
"Arrangements for this examination have been made for Wednesday April 22 and Mr Tomlinson's body will be released thereafter to his family."
