Kidnapped man left with 'car bomb'
A man who was found in a car with his hands bound and surrounded by gas canisters had been kidnapped, police said.
West Midlands Police said the Asian man had been put in the car against his will and told that it contained a bomb.
Police, fire crews, the Army bomb disposal team, and trained negotiators, were called to a road in an industrial area of Birmingham at around 10.20 on Sunday morning after a passing lorry driver noticed the car.
Speaking near the scene in Saltley, chief superintendent Tom Coughlan said the man had been safely removed from the vehicle and was now being treated in hospital for a suspected broken leg.
