Two held over man's death in street

Two people have been arrested by police investigating the death of a man who was found in the street with head injuries.

A 28-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy were arrested on Saturday, police said.

The victim, aged about 50, was found unconscious at 7.30 on Saturday morning in Beaumont Road, Plaistow, east London.

He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 8am, Scotland Yard said.

A spokesman added: "We believe we know his identity and have informed next of kin. However we await formal identification."

A post-mortem examination was being conducted at East Ham mortuary, east London.

The man and boy were arrested on Saturday in connection with the inquiry and were in custody at separate east London police stations.
