A woman has been charged with child sex offences following the investigation into paedophiles Vanessa George and Colin Blanchard, police have said.
Nursery worker George, 39, and her accomplices, Blanchard, 38, and Angela Allen, 39, admitted a string offences at Bristol Crown Court last month.
Merseyside Police said an unnamed 43-year-old woman, from Southport, was due to appear in court on Thursday charged with possessing and making indecent images of a child and sexual activity with a child.
Police said the charges follow the investigation into Blanchard and are not linked to George or the Little Ted's Nursery where she worked in Plymouth, Devon.
A Merseyside Police spokesman said on Wednesday: "A 43-year-old woman from Southport has been charged with a number of offences relating to possessing and making indecent images of a child and sexual activity with a child. She will appear at Bootle Magistrates' Court tomorrow."
Blanchard, from Smallbridge, near Rochdale, Greater Manchester, is currently awaiting sentence alongside George, of Plymouth, and Allen, from Nottingham.
Bristol Crown Court heard that they subjected their young victims to humiliating sexual abuse involving plastic golf clubs, sex toys and toothbrushes. They recorded the horrific abuse on their mobile phones and then exchanged the pictures via email, never actually meeting in person.
George's arrest sparked massive public outrage and angry scenes during her court appearances. She was charged following the arrest of Blanchard who was caught by
Manchester Airport police after a colleague found obscene pictures on a work computer. Greater Manchester Police identified George on examination of the indecent images and after extensive interviews with Blanchard.
Following even further examination of Blanchard's computers, Allen was identified and arrested later in June at her home. As the investigation unfolded, police found that the paedophiles had exchanged thousands of texts and dozens of emails goading each other on to more depraved acts with youngsters.
