Donkey derby in Birmingham's Shirley Park

he Mayor of Solihull Gary Allport comes home first with the help of Blaze.

OLD and young flocked to a park for fun in the sun. Shirley Park was the venue for the town's annual donkey derby which attracts visitors from across the region.

Youngsters enjoyed going head-to-head in the donkey races cheered on by family and friends while older visitors to the park in Stratford Road had the chance to browse among a variety of stalls which were laid on.

Children also enjoyed tucking into ice cream and other treats before trying their luck at the various traditional stalls scattered around the park. The afternoon event, which takes place every year, is organised by The Rotary Club of Shirley to raise money for local good causes.
