Hammer raid on Shirley supermarket

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after robbers terrorised workers with a hammer at a Midland supermarket.

Three men raided a cash-in-transit van at Tesco, in Stratford Road, Shirley, yesterday at 11.45am.

They threatened staff before making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers have revealed that a silver Audi used in the getaway was later found abandoned. No-one was injured in the incident.

Police enquiries are ongoing and any witnesses or anyone with information should contact the CID at Solihull on 0845 113 5000.
