Chance to be ‘shipwrecked’ with Lib Dem MP Lorely Burt

Lorely Burt

BUDDING politicians could find themselves in very hot water by speaking up for themselves to clinch a spot on a deserted desert island.

Solihull’s Lib Dem MP Lorely Burt is looking for someone with an interest in politics who would be prepared to be “shipwrecked” on the idyllic Cook Islands for a forthcoming television programme.

Mrs Burt has made the plea after being approached by the makers of the Channel 4 show Shipwrecked – a survival programme who are hoping to find a future star from Solihull.

She said producers have asked her to find a young, politically active person in the borough who would be prepared to join a group left to survive on a desert island for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“The format for the next series has changed to provide a platform for more interesting discussion between the desert islanders,” said Mrs Burt.

“I’m sure whoever gets the chance to be cast away on the Cook Islands will have the experience of a lifetime, learning to build accommodation, cooking on an island and working as a team.

“As someone who is politically minded, I’m sure the team would benefit from the resourcefulness and ideas of a young Lib Dem.

“If there is anyone out there who would like to volunteer to take part in this life changing experience, please give my office a ring on 0121 706 9593 or send an e-mail to burtl@parliament.uk and I can put them in touch with the programme makers.”
