Man is saved from Shirley flat fire

A MAN needed oxygen treatment after being led to safety from his smoke-filled flat in Solihull.

Firefighters from Billesley, Solihull and Hay Mills were called to the first floor property in Plestowes Close, Shirley, shortly after midnight.

The man had been overcome after leaving food to catch fire on the cooker.
