A SCHOOL in Solihull has been selected as a ‘flagship’ centre for a new project aimed at growing organic food.
Damson Wood Infants is taking part in the Food For Life Partnership by developing an organic growing area in their grounds to give its children and local residents a place to learn about and enjoy homegrown food.
Head teacher Marilyn Phipps said: “We are very excited and look forward to learning about growing and cooking our own organic produce.”
Damson Wood Infants is one of 180 schools and communities across the country that are being recognised as national leaders on food education by the Food for Life Partnership. The Soil Association, Garden Organic, the Health Education Trust and the Focus on Food Campaign have all come together to form the Partnership which aims to help schools and communities access seasonal, local and organic food, and the skills they need to cook and grow it.
Other schools are invited to become part of the Partnership by registering at www.foodforlife.org.uk
