Teenager killed in Chelmsley Wood crash
A TEENAGER was killed and a second was left fighting for his life after a car smashed into a tree in Birmingham.
The tragedy happened just before 11pm last night when a blue Ford Ka veered off Coleshill Heath Road in Chelmsley Wood before colliding with a nearby tree.
Firefighters based at Sheldon and Bickenhill raced to the scene in a bid to free the pair, both aged 17, from the twisted wreckage but one was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other suffered multiple injuries and was rushed in a critical condition to Heartlands Hospital, where a trauma team was on standby.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said the car was badly damaged in the accident and nothing could be done to save the dead teenager.
