Woman murdered in Marston Green had compained to police

The couple ran their own business at the £300,000 home, selling trading card games based on the Japanese video game Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh.

They were the sole employees and directors of the firm - which traded as www.cardempire.co.uk - whilst Mr Findlay was also the company secretary.

Neighbour Francis Feeney, 55, saw Mr Findlay walking towards the train station just an hour before his death.

Mr Feeney said: “It is a real shock, you don’t expect two members of a family to go like that. I saw Mark most days. He didn’t appear to be in any anguished state. I saw the dogs being taken away by the kennels. The children are staying with relatives. It is very sad.”

Bob Sleigh, deputy leader of Solihull Council, also lives on the same street and said they were “Just an ordinary family.’

He said: “It’s a terrible tragedy. I didn’t know them very well but saw them taking the children to school. This is a close-knit community here in Marston Green and it has been a real shock.

“People have started laying flowers outside the house.”

Next-door neighbour Stella Reece said: “There was no indication that anything like this could possibly happen.

“They are a nice family, always friendly, always sociable and polite. The children are very nice children.”

Among several floral tributes placed in front of the house was one from staff at a nursery, bearing a note which read: “Thinking and praying for you both, Holly and Josh, and your families.”

Detectives are expected to release the results of a forensic post-mortem examination today.
