Murdered Marston Green mum told police of threats

IPCC deputy chair, Commissioner Len Jackson, said: “This is a tragic case in which a woman sadly died. Our investigation is examining the actions taken by officers and how they responded to the initial call and concerns raised by the woman.”

Neighbours said the couple been experiencing marital problems and had argued about access to their two children, said to be a 13-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl.

The children were thought to be staying with relatives.

Mrs Findlay’s two sisters were yesterday with their mother, Janet Hitchman, at her flat in Leicester and all were too upset to comment.

Mr Findlay’s parents, Roy and Beryl, also refused to comment at their home in Leicester.

Among several floral tributes placed in front of the house was one from staff at a nursery, bearing a note which read: “Thinking and praying for you both and your families.”

Meanwhile, shocked friends of Helen began leaving tributes to her on a website set up in her memory on social networking site facebook.

Emma Coley, who set up the ‘In loving memory of Helen Findlay’ wrote: “I’ll never forget you, and as I write this message I’m crying my eyes out, with happy memories of you, and sad thoughts I’ll never see you again.

“Sleep well HelzBellz, I miss you already, I love you lots, and I promise we will all look after your babies, and let them know what a wonderful women you were, and how you’re a beautiful angel in the sky.”

Jenny Dowling added: “What a great loss to everyone that knew you. So many stories and so many memories. I know you will be looking down on us from up there with the angels.”
