Family’s tribute to young cyclist killed in Olton crash

Kenneth Guise, aged 72, who lives in Pierce Avenue also heard the noise when the gold Renault Scenic collided with Brendon’s bike.

He said: “I came out when I heard a bang. The bike was on the floor and the car was halfway up the street.

“It was awful, checking him over and knowing you could not do anything. His parents came looking for him and found the police after he had gone to hospital. They took them straight away.”

Headteacher of Lyndon School, Selina Westwood, said the school as a community has been shocked and saddened by the tragic, sudden death of the teenager.

“Brendon was a very happy student, extremely popular and always smiling. He was a fabulous, enthusiastic, caring student and it is a devastating loss.

“At this time our thoughts and prayers must be with his family and friends who are desolated by their loss.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information is urged to call the road policing unit at Solihull police on 0845 113 5000.
