Solihull doctor targeted by violent carjackers speaks of ordeal

A DOCTOR subjected to a violent carjacking in front of his wife and child in Solihull has spoken of his terror during the ordeal.

Dustyn Saint was picking up food from a drive-through in Stratford Road, Shirley, when he was selected as a target and followed home by masked offenders who demanded he hand over his Audi A4 Quattro last November.

Two of the four men involved in the attack, Darren Smith and Luke O’Brien, were jailed for a total of 12 years at Warwick Crown Court.

Dr Saint, a GP at The Birches medical practice in Tanworth-in-Arden, said the experience left him paranoid about being followed for months afterwards.

The father-of-two, who did not want to be pictured, said: “My little one had just been born and we had no food in the house so I went to McDonald’s to get some. We were going to get a Chinese at first, which I wish we had done in retrospect.

“As I was driving home I didn’t see anyone following me. They must have turned the headlights off.

“I went to get out of the car when I saw two guys in balaclavas running towards me. I dropped the food I was holding and tried to slam the door.

“I pulled the door shut and locked it but unfortunately by then one of them had got in the back of the car.
