RESIDENTS in a Solihull village have launched an action group to fight plans for a gypsy and traveller site.
Hockley Heath Community – Residents Against Inappropriate Development (HHC-RAID) was formed after a piece of land in School Road was put forward in Solihull Council’s ‘call for sites’ exercise to decide how future accommodation needs of gypsies and travellers will be met.
Joan Gleadhill, from the group, said: “It is all about protecting the green belt, we are not against gypsies and travellers, we are against and would fight any inappropriate development taking place there. Development on adjacent land has been consistently denied by the council because of its green belt status and the same should be done here.”
