15 years for killing girlfriend

A MIDLAND man was today starting a life sentence for murdering his pregnant teenage girlfriend.

Alec Goode, 25, repeatedly stabbed 19-year-old Kristie Johnson with a kitchen knife after they argued at her flat in Rugeley, Staffordshire, last year.

Goode, of Coulthwaite Way, Rugeley, was arrested shortly after the crime, which took place in the early hours of Thursday, March 29. He had confessed to his father.

Yesterday he was convicted of murder following a trial at Stafford Crown Court, where he was given a life sentence with a minimum tariff of 15 years.

Ms Johnson (pictured), who was pregnant at the time of her death, had a three-year-old daughter, according to Staffordshire Police.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Garrett said: "The level of violence used by Goode was brutal and shocking.

"It's hard to imagine the terror Kristie must have experienced. Our thoughts are with her family at this distressing time."
