Watch out for bogus council staff

PEOPLE are being warned to be on their guard against conmen posing as council officials.

Police are urging pensioners in Cannock to be wary of the bogus callers after a woman living in Warwick Close was robbed of a safe containing cash.

Two men approached the woman's house shortly after 10am on January 30 claiming to be from the council.

They were allowed in but, after they had left, the occupant found a safe containing a quantity of cash had been taken.

The first offender is described as white, well built and aged between 35 and 40. The second man is white, aged about 25, with light brown curly hair and of slim build.

Anyone with information should call 08453 302010.
