Take the plunge for good cause

SPORTY residents are invited to make a splash and raise cash for charity.

Swimathon 2008 will take place at Burntwood Leisure Centre between April 17 to 20.

This year's national Swimathon is aiming to attract more than 19,000 people to 'Swim the Challenge' at 600 pools nationwide, to raise money to support the work of Marie Curie Cancer Care and The Swimathon Foundation.

Paul Watson, manager of Burntwood Leisure Centre, said: "We hope lots of people from across the district will take part in the Swimathon at Burntwood Leisure Centre.

"It will be lots of fun and a great opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to have a go at a healthy swimming challenge, whilst raising money for a great cause."

People can register at www.swimathon.org where they can also find more information about local participating pools, fundraising, and training tips.

They can also call the Swimathon hotline on 0845 36 700 36.
