Warning over fake leather furniture

ELDERLY people were today warned not to buy expensive but poor quality furniture from doorstep callers.

Officers from Rugeley urged people not to be ripped off after a van was spotted in the Attlee Crescent, Springfield Avenue and Lockside View, targeting pensioners with overpriced three-piece suites, claiming they were leather.

No one bought goods on that occasion but four days earlier, a pensioner in Lodge Road was approached by two men in a van who sold her what she thought was a black leather settee for £425, which turned out to be fake.
