Police to welcome new face

OFFICERS from Staffordshire Police's Chase Division have welcomed a new Superintendent to the division.

Nicholas Baker has joined Chase with 21 years experience with Staffordshire Police and is focused on meeting community needs through local policing services.

Mr Baker, 39, said: "I have worked within the division previously and have a close affinity with the area.

"Working with my colleagues and our partner agencies, I will be listening to residents and addressing matters that mean the most to our communities through a variety of new and established mechanisms."

Mr Baker began his career with Staffordshire Police in 1987 and worked throughout the county in uniformed ranks and within specialist units.

In 2001 he was promoted to the rank of Inspector and spent time in Government Office, West Midlands before taking up the role of Neighbourhood Policing Unit (NPU) Commander at Wombourne.

In 2002, the Supt took up the position of Detective Inspector for Chase before being promoted to Detective Chief Inspector and serving as Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) in the Force's Major Investigation Department.

Mr Baker's predecessor, Supt Steph Popadynec has taken up the role of head of Professional Standards for Staffordshire Police.
