Residents warned over bogus water officials

VULNERABLE residents are being warned to be on their guard against conmen posing as water company officials.

Staffordshire Police's Chase Division issued the warning after a man stole cash from the home of an 87-year-old woman in Rendermore Close, Penkridge, on January 31, after claiming he was there to check her taps.

It was only after he left that the woman realised that her purse had been stolen.

The man is white, about 25, and clean shaven. He was of medium to large build, with short hair and was wearing a black woollen hat and fleece.
