Alert after OAP falls victim to conman

FAMILIES are being urged to be on their guard against a conman posing as a water board official.

The warning was issued by Staffordshire Police's Chase Division following an incident in Great Wyrley.

A man approached the home of a woman in her 80s in Long Lane, stating he needed to check the water in her home.

But witnesses later stated that a second man entered the house without the pensioner's permission.

Once the man who had been invited in had left, the victim realised money had been stolen.

The woman was extremely shaken up by the incident, which happened at around 12.30pm last Thursday.

The first man is described as white, aged 21to 28, between 5ft 7ins and 5ft10ins tall, of slim build and had short dark hair. He was wearing a dark, waist length jacket and blue jeans with dark shoes.

Anyone with information can call DS Poultney on 08453 302010 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
