Top marks for merger school

A SCHOOL formed through the merger of three others has received a glowing first Ofsted report.

Inspectors who visited Fibbersley Park Primary School, in Noose Lane, Willenhall, gave it a Grade 2 "good" rating.

The school, which caters for 438 pupils aged three to 11, was opened in September 2007, 12 months after three schools on different sites were amalgamated to form it.

In a report, Ofsted inspector Chris Kessell put much of the school's success and rapid development down to the "outstanding leadership" of the head teacher, Joanna Austin, supported by other senior staff.

He said when they started school, the children's attainment was well below the expected level for their age but that they achieved average standards by the time they left in Year 6.

"It richly deserves its popularity among almost all parents and pupils," he said.
