Boy killed in Burntwood road accident is named

A YOUNG boy who was tragically killed after being hit by a car and a van was today named by police.

Thomas William Knight, aged 11, died following the accident on Stables Way, Chase Terrace, Burntwood, near its junction with Mavor Avenue, at around 1.40pm on Monday.

It is believed Thomas, who lived with his mum and step-dad in Littleton Way, Chase Terrace, was first hit by a white van being driven by a 49-year-old man from Chasetown and then a car being driven by a 25-year-old from Rugeley.

Rapid Response paramedics, a doctor and the county air ambulance battled to save him but he was pronounced dead at Birmingham Children's Hospital.
