Worker airlifted after arm crushed at Tamworth depot

A MAN was airlifted to hospital after his arm was crushed in an accident at a Midland distribution centre.

It happened at Focus DIY Distribution Centre on Bonehill Road, Tamworth, shortly after 4.30pm yesterday.

Paramedics arrived at the scene to find a 38-year-old man with his arm trapped in a large piece of machinery.

An ambulance service spokeswoman said: “The man, believed to be an employee at the distribution centre, had suffered serious crush injuries to his arm.

“Crews administered pain relief to the man and worked with firefighters to release the man’s arm from the machinery. The man was then flown by the County Air Ambulance from Staffordshire to Selly Oak Hospital for further treatment.”
