Rock fan injured in V Festival dance

A MUSIC fan suffered a fractured jaw while dancing at the weekend’s V Festival, ambulance bosses have revealed.

His bizarre injury happened as rain drenched the festival in Weston Park, Staffordshire, with the weather being blamed for many accidents.

The injured man was airlifted by helicopter to Birmingham’s Selly Oak Hospital where he underwent surgery.

A total of 671 people received medical treatment during weekend, ambulance bosses said.

West Midlands Ambulance’s Steve Wheaton, said: “The slippery conditions meant many of the incidents dealt with were slip, trips and falls, though there were also reports of staff dealing with bee stings, blisters and people who had forgotten medication.

“The team on site have also dealt with a number of medical emergencies, attending to patients who have suffered problems with their diabetes or who have had asthma attacks.

“There were also a number of cases of members of the public suffering from drug and alcohol overdoses.”
