Call to make Rugeley Charter Fair 09 the best one yet
Organisers of this year’s Rugeley Charter Fair are hoping this summer’s event will be bigger and better than ever before to commemorate the 750th anniversary of the Charter.
Already the event looks set to be spectacular with more acts and stalls than ever.
And now Rugeley Town Council is calling on people in the town to come forward and be part of the fun.
The summer spectacular will take place on St Augustine’s Field in Rugeley on Saturday June 6.
Acts already lined up include the UK’s number one motorcycle display team the Bolddog Links and the Backdraft wheelie truck which jumps 15 feet in the air.
Music on the day will be provided by a 300-strong choir and the Samba band from local schools who will serenade spectators throughout the event.
There will also be a colourful parade showing Rugeley throughout the ages winding its way through the town before the event begins.
Other attractions include bouncy castles, market stalls and a special service at St Augustine’s Church to celebrate the 750th anniversary.
A spokesman for Rugeley Town Council which organisers the Charter Fair said: “Charter Fair is organised to promote the town and its businesses and of course raise money for charity.
“The council does not profit from the event and looks forward to raising money for all of our local charities.”
There will also be a Charter Fair Barn dance and hog roast on June 27
