More refinery row strikes likely
More wild cat strikes are expected around the country ahead of talks aimed at resolving the bitter row over the sacking of hundreds of workers at an oil refinery.
Sympathy strikes could affect a number of power stations and other sites before the talks resume on Thursday.
Union officials and employers met for more than five hours at a central London hotel on Tuesday in an attempt to end the deadlocked dispute about jobs at the Lindsey Oil Refinery in North Lincolnshire.
Up to 4,000 workers at power stations and oil and gas terminals across Britain have already taken unofficial action in support of 647 employees sacked at the plant in Immingham.
Sources say some progress was made during the talks but "significant barriers" remain before the dispute can be resolved.
"Some progress has been made but there are a number of hurdles to overcome," said one source close to the talks.
