THE family of murdered father-of-five Michael Eccles have called for life sentences for the man and teenager convicted today of killing the popular Lichfield man.

Michael Eccles

A jury at Birmingham Crown Court took four hours to find guilty Carl Keatley, 20, of Greencroft, Lichfield, and a 16-year-old boy, who is also from Lichfield.

The boy can now be identified as Jordan Carroll after a court order was lifted.

Mr Eccles died a day after the attack in January. Police have described it as a savage attack.

Speaking outside court today, Mr Eccles's brother in law John Bayliss said: "We the sentences to be passed will reflect what a vicious and sustained attack this was.

"We beleive in an eye for an eye, and life should mean life, not just 15 years.

"We will never forgive this evil pair. They showed no remorse.

"Keatley found the whole thing entertaining, it is disgusting.

"Ecky was a great man and lived life with enthusiasm and a smile which is rarely seen.

"They may have only stopped one heart but have broken many more.

"Michael was a family man who doted on his partner of 23 years and his five children.

"Michael's passing has left an enormous hole in many lives. His family will never get over what happened."

And Mr Bayliss called on the Government to take more action to support areas where anti-social behaviour from a minority was impacting many lives.

He said: "The Government must take more action. Dimbles isn't a bad area. It is occupied by thousands of good people, but a small minority of families live there need pulling into line."
