Lichfield cyclist's charity trek to boost air ambulance

PEDAL power is set to boost the coffers of a lifesaving emergency service.

Cyclist Andy Hall will be going to great lengths to help one of his favourite charities later this month.

For 53-year-old Andy is about to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money for the Midlands Air Ambulance.

Andy, of Lincoln Croft, Shenstone, near Lichfield, plans to cycle between 80 and 100 miles a day, and will be camping or stopping in hostels as he makes his way up the country.

He is now rallying support from regulars in his local, Shenstone’s Fox & Hounds pub.

He said: “I’ve done various charity rides and the pub is always a great place to get sponsors. They are always a generous bunch.”

Andy, who is hoping to complete the journey in 11 days, plans to travel to Land’s End on Sunday and start his ride on Monday.

He will be accompanied part of the way by Whittington-based cycling pal Alex Harper. His nephew Carl Walker, a Swansea-based teacher, plans to complete the whole journey.
