Lichfield pub to host start of motorbike crash awareness roadshow
AN initiative to drive down biker deaths on Midland roads will be launched on Sunday.
The Motorcycle Road Safety Awareness event comes after figures revealed bikers made up 21 per cent of deaths on Staffordshire roads even though they represent just one per cent of traffic.
Starting at the Royal Oak pub, Lichfield, other events will follow across the whole county of Staffordshire.
Coun Mike Maryon, Staffordshire cabinet member for highways, said: “Motorcyclists are a real concern.
“They continue to represent a disproportionate number of those killed or seriously injured on Staffordshire’s roads.”
