INJURED servicemen being treated in Birmingham were given a major morale boost when Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall paid them a special visit.
The royal couple arrived onto the Queen Elizabeth Hospital site via helicopter to meet and speak with staff before going their separate ways.
Prince Charles took a tour of the new superhospital, officially opened back in June, while the Duchess of Cornwall visited the Royal Centre of Defence Medicine at Selly Oak Hospital.
Major Ian Cheeseman, officer in command of patient services for wounded soldiers, was among the delegation which greeted Camilla at Selly Oak.
He said: “It’s a huge boost to the patients to have someone of the stature of The Prince and Camilla visit.
