VISITORS to a Sutton Coldfield farm will come face-to-face with a huge real life bunny.

Floppy eared Bernard is set to make a big, big impression at Broomey Croft Children's Farm, in Bodymoor Heath.

And when the 19lbs whopper does what rabbits do best, he certainly makes the earth move.

The 18-month-old German Giant, the world's largest breed, will be meeting youngsters for the first time when the farm opens its doors for school half-term next week.

But they need not be afraid as 18-month-old Bernard is a gentle giant. Owner Valerie Edgcombe said: "He is a lovely rabbit, has a nice nature. But he makes a terrific noise when he thumps his foot."

Bernard spends much of the day eating his way through 8oz of hard food, two large carrots and plenty of hay.

Valerie said that all the other rabbits are afraid of him and steered well clear.

Bernard was imported from Germany a year ago to breed with his British counterparts and arrived at Broomey Croft earlier this week to enjoy his retirement. n Broomey Croft Children's Farm is open to the public at weekends and school holidays.

Admission costs £3.90 adults and £3.50 children. For details visit the website www.broomeycroftfarm.co.uk or call 01827 873 844.
