New kit boost for fire crew

YOUNG firefighters at West Bromwich are strutting their stuff in brand new kit - thanks to a local superstore.

The Young Firefighters Association members had been struggling along in old gear but now, thanks to Asda at Great Bridge, they are looking smart in their own fire tunics.

They were able to take part in this year's Remembrance Day Parade, showing off their new look.

The store kindly donated around £400 worth of school uniforms - blazers, shirts and trousers - and West Midlands Fire Service had blazer-style badges designed and bought silver buttons.

The children then stitched the badges and buttons to the blazers themselves to create their own unique tunics.
