Crash teen fights for life

A BIRMINGHAM teenager was fighting for his life today after a collision with a bus in the Black Country.

The accident happened just after 1pm yesterday in High Street, Amblecote, Stourbridge, near the junction with Piper Place.

A police spokesman said a 17-year-old male pedestrian from Northfield had suffered serious head injuries and was in a "critical" condition in Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Trevor Ford said the youth had been in collision with a single-decker bus.

"Paramedics treated the lad at the scene before he was taken to hospital. He was in a bad way," he added.

The accident, close to the Lidl supermarket, caused widespread traffic problems, with a section of Brettell Lane and Collis Street being closed off.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the road policing unit at Halesowen on 0845 1135000.
