Passenger jet makes emergency landing

AN aircraft packed with holidaymakers was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after take-off at Birmingham International Airport.

The captain of the Boeing-757 bound for Majorca saw a warning light relating to a hydraulic system and decided to turn back.

A spokeswoman for First Choice Airways said the plane had performed an emergency landing as a precaution following a routine technical matter.

She said the aircraft, which was carrying 233 passengers, underwent an hour-long examination before making a successful take-off for Palma.
